MD 016: TECUMSEH – SEVEN

Back in 2013 we´ve got in contact with a band which gave us some tracks recorded by Mell Dettmer (known for her work with Sunn O))), Eyvind Kang, Asva and so on). We did listen to the tracks and we were overpowered by emotions, that only minimal drone music can wake. Hard to describe, something between giving you the creeps and the feeling you have when you drink a good espresso.

The band we are talking about is Tecumseh. They previously released albums via Important Records and Beta Lactam Ring Records (to name a few) and now we are giving Tecumseh a home in Europe.

Nearly two years later, the tracks were mastered by James Plotkin and we are very happy to announce the album called “Seven”. The sound of Tecumseh is diffident and impressive at once. Minimal input with maximum sum. E-bowed guitars and simmering bass strings in a perfect blend. Imagine a Chimera of Earth and Sunn O))) with an introverted approach, that makes the music sound very intimately.

The technically results by Mell Dettmers recording and James Plotkins mastering are worth the waiting. Listen for yourself:

The “Seven” CD comes in a 4 panel digisleeve on thick cardboard with matt finish limited to 200 copies.

You can preorder “Seven” in our Online Store.

MD 014: PIIPTSJILLING – MOARNTIIDS

We thought it would be nice to add a new direction of experimental sounds to our roster. So, it´s time for our first release featuring vocals.

moarntiids-500x500

Piiptsjilling is a quartet consisting of Rutger Zuydervelt (Machinefabriek), Mariska Baars (Soccer Committee) and Romke & Jan Kleefstra (The Alvaret Ensemble). Their new album “Moarntiids” features four epic tracks, which were born out of an improvisational session. The sound is very mystical crawling between surreal sounding landscapes made by guitars, field recordings and electronics. The whole mystical impression gets its highlight when Jan Kleefstra joins with his spoken word lyrics. His calm voice talks in a nearly dead language: Frysian from the north of the Netherlands. Sounding like a language that got spoken backwards, somehow, fitting very nice into the soundscapes of the other musicians. And there are also some special moments where you can hear the handsome voice of Mariska, completing the soundimpression of Piiptsjilling.

Turn up the volume and listen to one of the four tracks right here. We are sure, maximum volume will give you the creeps. Find out for yourself:

“Moarntiids” will be released on CD in a limited edition of 200 copies, housed in a very nice digisleeve including artworks by Mariska Baars.

MD 012: B / B / S / – COLTRE / MANTO

Looking back to the same time one year ago, a new Band called B / B / S/ – a trio consisting of Aidan Baker, Andrea Belfi and Erik Skodvin – started a tour to promote their debut album “Brick Mask” (Miasmah). They also played a show in Bochum at the Christuskirche Bochum, that luckily was recorded.

Coltre / MantoNow, one year later, we are proud to announce the second B / B / S/ album called “Coltre / Manto”. It is based on the church recordings made in 2013. Andrea Belfi mixed the tracks and finally Martyn Heyne mastered the album in Berlin, with a breathtaking result of massive sound collages and dramatical sound progressions. The sounds move from ambient based improvisations to impressive krautrocking soundwalls made by two guitars, drums and filigrane electronics. Compared to the debut album, the band is moving forward to challenge more experimental but catchy soundscapes.

Tracklist:
A: Coltre (16:57)
B: Manto (19:55)

If you like the solo releases of the three bandmembers and the records they did with Nadja and Deaf Center, you will love this record, honestly!

You can listen to Coltre here:

The album will be released on black vinyl in an edition of 250 records including a download code.

PREORDER starts on 03 / 02 / 2014 (20:00 – german time)

And the band will also go on tour again, to promote the second album.

MD 004: A-SUN AMISSA – CHRISTUSKIRCHE BOCHUM 17.02.12

MD 004 - A-Sun_BochumA-Sun Amissa released their debut “Desperate in Her Heavy Sleep” in March 2012. Some days before Gizeh Records released the album, the band did a small tour through Europe supporting Aidan Baker. The show at Christuskirche Bochum hosted by thepostrock.de was in many ways a special event. A-Sun Amissa did a solo set, Aidan Baker played an improvised set with Maik Erdas (Kodiak) on Drums and as a special closure A-Sun Amissa played an improvised set with Aidan and Maik.

Now, we want to focus on the A-Sun Amissa set. Imagine three musicians sitting in a hemicycle in front of an altar. Fully focused in playing their instruments, sitting on wooden chairs, letting all sounds melt together, letting the sounds move through the church hall… This set has an ineffable gravity, moving between ambient, modern classic and blues sounds.

You can download the album for free here.

A-Sun AmissaA-Sun Amissa will be on tour with Aidan Baker again in February/March 2013.
