JARMO HUHTA
Jarmo Huhta from Finland composed a very special album, full of cinematic moments, moving from ambient to modern classic with a noir touch.
“Midair” combines real instruments with electronics. Huhta’s style fuses ambient, drone, neofolk, free-jazz elements and spoken words with modern classical influences, using instruments like piano, cello, french horn, clarinet, accordion, voice, and ethnic percussions like taiko.
Play it loud: Low end rumbles will evoke to sense the music not just with ears, but with the entire body. Play it quiet: A perfect soundtrack to calm down without loosing focus of the sounds.
The album features German pianist Kai Schumacher, who effectively utilizes natural piano playing and inside effects technique. Most of the album’s ambiences and rhythms base on this technique.
Jarmo Huhta about “Midair”:
“A mid-air collision is an aviation accident in which two or more aircraft come into unplanned contact during flight. The potential for a mid-air collision is increased by miscommunication, mistrust, error in navigation. Same goes with collisions in the human relationships. Overall, Midair is the album about proportions, different height levels, emotion changes and recovery process.”
“Midair” comes in an edition of 100 copies on transparent blue vinyl with reverseboard printed sleeves.
