FAUSTO MAIJSTRAL
Fausto Maijstral is Will Gresson from New Zealand and DuChamp from Italy, a drone duo based in Berlin and London. On “Islands” you will find 6 tracks, moving somewhere between drone, ambient, blues, field recording, modern classic and experimental sounds. All mixed into a homogeneous sound construct. The sounds are very warm and rough, you feel like being part of a live show, with all the sounds surrounding you.
“Islands” comes in a limited edition of 100 copies on CD. Housed in a gatefold four panel sleeve with matte finish.

Fausto Maijstral about the album
All these songs were recorded during the Covid-19 outbreak. Finding ourselves without shows to play and isolated without prospects, we held onto the idea of making this record as something that we had to do. We promised ourselves and each other that we’d find a way to meet once a week to practice and write (one of the only social interactions available to us). Life looked bleaker and more uncertain than before, and making plans felt impossible; but we had made a promise. Hannah Arendt’s notion that promises are “islands of predictability (…) in which certain guideposts of reliability are erected” in the “ocean of uncertainty” served us as a constant mantra. “Islands” is our promise to each other, and now we share it with you.
