THISQUIETARMY & TOM MALMENDIER
“Cime” is the sophomore album by thisquietarmy & Tom Malmendier, the follow-up to “Steppe” released 5 years ago on Norwegianism Records. On “Cime”, the Canadian/Belgian guitar-drums duo keeps exploring their unique brand of heavy drones and free jazz long-form exploration, blasting away deep intense waves of vibrations, offset by skittering and frenzied percussion, to say it with the words of Eric Quach.
Lets start from the beginning. First time we met the duo, was on their first tour back in 2017, when Eric got joined by Tom. We did a show at Christuskirche Bochum, where Eric and Tom played thisquietarmy tracks and in the end the other main act of the evening – Dirk Serries – joined them to play an improvisational set, which ended up as the Midira release “Hell”.
So now, 7 years later, we are very pleased to release “Cime” the new powerful haunting album by thisquietarmy and Tom Malmendier. Recorded during Summer 2024 in Canada and France. Mixed and mastered and housed in a massive canadian mountain artwork sleeve by Eric Quach. All set up for their current tour. So here we go. Buy the record and go see them play.
