RSN
We start the new year with a massive drone release, featuring more then 13 hours of bass dronescapes.
But let´s start from the beginning. RSN is the current Moniker of Thomas Rosen (Ninemiles, [ B O L T ]), with a focus on minimal dronescapes created on bass. He already released a couple of records including some collaborations (for example with N) and now it´s time for us to present his massive opus “cutouts #1”.
“cutouts #1” features 14 tracks. It starts with a live recording, which marks the beginning of 12 following loop tracks, which end up in another live track. We know that 13 hours of drone music sound very heavy, but it is worth it to listen to those hour long loops, framed by two excellent live sessions.
The album got mastered by Oliver Barrett (Petrels), who pointed out the massive drones, so you have a warm and raw feeling while listening.
RSN about the album
“cutouts #1” is the documentation of the installation “flowing & absorbing cutouts”, which combines abstract photographs with looped sounds. The installation began with a live concert that transitioned into three constantly shifting loops. Two weeks later, the installation ended with a final concert, which developed out of the still running loops. “cutouts #1” therefore consists of 14 tracks, with each track representing one day of the installation’s duration. The music is based on the photographs in the series. It is flowing and light, has foggy structures and enables an endless deep immersion. Everything seems to be in a bubble, floating through an intangible space – a long journey, a gentle feeling.
