OIKOS
We are very happy to announce that Oikos is back after nearly a decade of silence. With releases on Utech Records, Knockturne Records and Land Of Decay (to name a few) the music of Oikos did perpetuate in our minds and now we open a new chapter with “Pillars”.
Oikos is the project of Rafael Femiano (Madrid, Spain) focused on the creation of cinematic soundscapes through layers of synths, altered field recordings and modified guitar textures. On “Pillars” you will find five epic minimalistic drone tracks, with a warm and rough structure, longing for attention. It all starts with the 10 minutes long “Puna”, endlessly seething, keeping you in the dark, not knowing what happens next: will the track explode into a massive soundwall or will it ebb away? We really love that tension, that keeps every track on “Pillars” on a certain level.
“Pillars” comes in a limited edition of 100 copies. The CD is housed in gatefold sleeve, with a black and white design on the outside and a coloured inner sleeve. We used images of mountains to reinforce the impression of the tracks.
Oikos (Rafael Femiano) about the album
“Pillars” works as a treatise on existential isolation through a cartography of abyssal frequencies and textures that evoke the forgotten boundaries of Earth. Each piece on “Pillars” attempts to confront the unknown by venturing into those remote places where matter and time seem to stand still.
