EIJRA WOON
We are pleased to introduce Eijra Woon from Brittany (France) to the Midira family. We are releasing the anthology “Humus”, a carefully assembled collection of ambient, drone and field-recording works shaped into a coherent listening experience. Written, composed, mixed and selected entirely by Eijra Woon, the album moves between quiet ambient and louder noise moments, while inviting the listener to slow down and enter an altered state of attention. The collection brings together self-released, limited pre-released and previously unreleased material, all newly mastered by Francis Gri, who made “Humus” sound like a homogenous album.
“Humus” comes in a limited edition of 100 copies on CD. Housed in a four panel digisleeve with matte finish. All images used in the artwork are photos, taken by Eijra Woon, which brings another interesting anthology aspect to the album.
Eijra Woon about the album
“I wanted to recollect all of my favourite ambient, drone, field recording tracks by Eijra Woon and put it on a record that has a kind of coherence threw listening to it. Trying to get the listener in a modified state of consciousness. To me, “Humus” evokes the cycles of Nature, the nurturing aspects and authenticity of it. “Humus” means “earth” in Latin and is related to the word “humility” and “human”. So it’s also about slowing down and replace the “self” in its right place, as part of a whole bigger picture. I think we desperatly need some, especially those days where egos shine an artificial light made of pettyness and sassiness on social medias, building towers and wars on vacuity and lies but also with the rise of transhumanism and fascism and the disconnection of humans with Earth and Sky.”
