ZENJUNGLE
It´s been a while, since we released the last solo album by Zenjungle. But we never would have thought, that it would be 8 years. So here we are again, eight years later, eight years older, Zenjungle never stopped making music. He did some collaborations, played in a band called Moon Taken Over and recorded solo stuff, like the track “Ingression” which is part of the Compilation “Cohesion – We Stand Together For The People Of Ukraine“.
At the beginning of this year Phil Gardelis aka Zenjungle started working on new solo material. The result is the epic 35 minutes long “Sometimes”. A one track album, that brings up new sound aspects, like the use of pre-recorded drums from an unused recording session by Moon Taken Over, but also signature soundscapes with the typical saxophone parts.
“Sometimes” starts very structured and grows into a jazzy soundscape before it calms down to build up into a guitar and saxophone dronewall… but just find out for yourself. The album needs your attention, you can´t press play and leave it playing, you have to listen, you have to feel.
It´s an emotional insight into the Zenjungle world.
“Sometimes” comes in an edition of 100 copies on CD. We used a 6 panel digisleeve with matte finish to reflect the long form concept of the one track album into the artwork.
The album is accompanied by a poem, written by Phil Gardelis, which was originally intended to be a vocal part of the album:
“Sometimes, I wish we had done things the other way
Try again, take a breath and try again
A constant fight, a riot inside that we should take outside
While the world is fucked and we still have the privilege not only to survive
Yeah, we ‘ll start over and take it outside.
I promise you this time
Take a breath
Ok, Ok
Here we go”
